Just outside the town of Palaia there is the church "Pieve di San Martino", but it is also interesting to visit the "Museo del Lavoro e della Civiltà Rurale", which is a museum holding several tools related to the traditions of the local residents. Some hidden gems can be discovered travelling less than 20 Km: Treggiaia, Montecastello, Capannoli, Montefoscoli, and Partino. Travelling a bit further, in a range of about 60 Km, you can find other interesting locations: the Piaggio Museum in Pontedera; the Leonardo da Vinci Museum and Leonardo's childhood home; Saint Zeno's Cathedral, "San Giovanni in Corte" baptistery and the "Palazzo Vescovile" in Pistoia; the harbour, the "Fortezza Vecchia" and "Palazzo Mediceo" in Livorno; the Glass Museum in Empoli; the famous "Teatro del Silenzio" desired by tenor Andrea Bocelli, in Lajatico; the "Santuario della Madonna di San Romano" in San Romano. We cannot of course miss to mention the most important art cities such as Lucca, Pisa and Florence.
